Secil
Founded in Portugal over 90 years ago, Secil is an international business group specialising in the production and supply of cement, concrete, aggregates, mortars, and hydraulic lime. Alongside its core manufacturing activities, Secil integrates companies operating in complementary areas of the circular economy, including the use of waste as an alternative energy source. The Group operates three factories in Portugal — Out?o, Maceira, and Pataias — and has an established international presence in Angola, Tunisia, Lebanon, Cape Verde, Spain, the Netherlands, and Brazil.
The Secil Group is widely respected for its expertise in lime and construction materials, particularly in the conservation and repair of historic buildings. Through decades of experience, Secil has developed traditional lime products that are fully compatible with historic masonry and time-honoured building techniques.
Ongoing research and close collaboration with conservation specialists, architects, and craftspeople allow Secil to continually refine its lime products, ensuring they meet the exacting demands of heritage conservation while aligning with modern standards of performance and sustainability. In response to the realities of climate change, Secil also recognises its responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of its operations, with a strong focus on lowering carbon intensity, supporting the circular economy, and protecting biodiversity across the countries in which it operates.
Ty-Mawr Lime has been a specialist distributor for Secil products in the UK for nearly 20 years and continues to work closely with the Secil group in supporting and making their materials widely available to historic and new build projects across the UK.
