Courses 

We have been running courses in traditional and sustainable building skills and techniques since 1996. The training is based in a beautiful complex of Grade II* listed buildings on the shore of Llangors Lake, in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park in Mid Wales. 

Introduction to Lime
A two day course showcasing the wide range of lime products, this practical workshop will give you a good understanding of how to choose and use the correct materials, with plenty of time to ask questions about your personal projects.

Limecrete day 
A comprehensive one day course for our Sublime® Insulated Limecrete floor system, covering everything from initial investigations and detailing to installation and choice of finishes. A hands-on introduction to laying limecrete.

Introduction to insulation and retrofit
Spend a day learning about our range of natural fibre insulations and how they should be applied to both traditional and modern buildings to create a comfortable and sustainable living environment.

Virtual Consultation

We provide virtual consultations to discuss your project covering the entire range of materials, this is ideal for projects that are still in the design process or, properties that are a long distance away making an in person visit impractical. 

The consultation will be tailored to answer any queries you have relating to renovating and retrofitting your property with our materials. Our holistic approach to buildings will also look at managing moisture internally and externally to create a warm and dry home. 

The virtual consultation is arranged via Microsoft Teams (other options are available if preferred)
Consultations typically last 45 minutes - 1 hour
Cost £65 (incl vat) 

To get the most out of your consultation please send through a summary of topics you would like to discuss and pictures/drawings of the building for our team to review before the meeting.

Site Visit

Our technical team visit your project site to discuss how our materials can be used to renovate and retrofit. This can include Lime mortars and plasters, insulation products and finishes.

We will discuss the options for material selection with the pros and cons of different approaches deciding on your requirements and limitations. We do not provide a design service but we will identify potential risks where possible, and suggest which of our products are most appropriate.

Whilst more expensive than a virtual consultation, being on site really allows our team to understand the condition and environment of the building and provide the most accurate advice, some aspects such as moisture levels within masonry are difficult to gauge without seeing it in person.

CPD Presentation

Ty-Mawr offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions for construction industry professionals. These consist of a 45 minute presentation followed by a 15 minute question and answer session. 
CPD topics: 

1. Lime - an overview of lime for use in mortars and plasters, covering its history, selection and application. 

2. Sublime Insulated Limecrete Floor - an overview of our insulating floor system for traditional buildings and new-build. 

3. Retrofit – an overview of the insulation systems we offer for solid walls, timber frame structures, and all types of roofs. 

CPDs are generally delivered online, but can sometimes be done in person depending on availability and location. We can also tailor a session to suit your specific requirements or project – please get in touch via the contact form to discuss your requirements before booking.
