Introduction to Thatching

This one day course is designed to provide an introduction to the craft of thatching. The day is centred around the practical application of a thatched roof on a purpose-built display. All work will be done at ground level. It is suitable for builders, homeowners, architects, conservationists and other enthusiasts.

The course looks at the different methods of thatching and ridging techniques, some roof construction, tools and fixings, and how to recognise the different materials with emphasis on the Welsh Vernacular.
