MD Completes Artic Challenge in Aid of Velindre

Date published: 04/04/2018

Our MD Joyce has competed, along with a group of brave volunteers, an unsupported attempt to cover 100km across the Arctic Circle in 3 days. Along the way they crossed frozen lakes, skirted ancient glaciers, passed through the villages of the indigenous Sami people, and witnessed some of the most stunning scenery on the planet all whilst raising much needed funds for Velindre Cancer Centre.

They also learned
• To walk using snowshoes
• Various Arctic survival techniques
• To build emergency shelters and snow shelters
• To break through the ice of a frozen lake and rescue themselves

Joyce said “We made it! 104km across the article circle for Velindre Cancer Care Feeling bit bruised but strong and proud and emotional and very very tired. Thanks for all the wonderful messages, donations and support for our fabulous little team - we have needed and appreciated it all! All chuffed to bits to pass £30k and so grateful for all donations.”
