GLAPOR Recycled Foamed Glass Insulating Gravel (RFG)
A key component of our award-winning Sublime® Insulated Limecrete Floor system, the GLAPOR Recycled Foamed Glass Insulating Gravel (RFG) is a loosefill insulating aggregate ideal for use in solid floor construction.
The foamed glass fulfils three critical functions required for solid floor construction, it provides damp protection, insulation and acts as a structural hardcore.

Damp protection: Glapor (RFG) is a non-capillary material which provides a wicking break that prevents moisture movement through capillary action (how moisture moves through soil). This means the Glapor is able to provide damp protection for the Limecrete without introducing the problems that typically occur when introducing a conventional damp proof membrane (DPM) into a building of solid wall construction without a modern damp proof course (DPC).

Insulation: Glapor (RFG) is a closed cell insulation that is formed from many small air bubbles trapped in glass, this creates a thermal break which insulates the slab from the subsoil reducing heat loss. With an independently tested thermal conductivity, the depth of Glapor can be calculated to achieve any required U-Value.

Structural hardcore: Glapor (RFG) is a structural hardcore with a tested compressive strength, which means it provides the necessary support for the Limecrete with no requirement for an additional Type1 / MOT subbase below.
Available in 1m3 bulk bags, the recycled foamed glass can be delivered nationwide. Bulk discounts are available, and for orders over 70m3 loose loads may be available.

Why Use GLAPOR Recycled Foamed Glass Insulating Gravel?
It is now recognised that polythene membranes, retrospectively installed into floor slabs in existing buildings, have the potential to actually cause rising damp problems: A build up of water pressure beneath the membrane moisture will move moisture sideways until it reaches the existing masonry where it will be able to rise within the wall structure. This situation is often exacerbated by use of waterproof cementitious renders and tanking on the walls which trap the moisture within the masonry.
Our flooring system does not include a moisture impermeable barrier (Damp Proof Membrane). The control of ingress of moisture is achieved by using a layer of recycled foamed glass aggregate beneath the slab material. Its non capillary active closed cell structure provides the moisture protection for your floor while remaining vapour open.
