Finishes - Is there a breathable lime based self-levelling compound?

Bethany Evans Posted this on 26 Mar 2024

Unfortunately Lime based materials are not suitable for use as self-levelling compounds over a floor. The typical use of self-levelling compounds to level a floor also uses a very thin layer of material to even out undulation in a floor surface, most lime based products are not suitable to be laid at a thin enough layer to achieve this without substantial cracking and potentially delamination. Additionally, if lime mortars are mixed to a highly fluid consistency (to enable self-levelling) then as they dry they can experience a high level of cracking due to the rapid evaporation of moisture.
