Finishes - Installing carpets

It is possible to install carpet on top of the limecrete, ideally this would be a vapour permeable materials such as wool or jute for both the carpet and the underlay. However if necessary non-breathable underlay and carpet can be used, in this instance it is critical that the slab is fully dry as any remaining moisture will be trapped below the carpet resulting in damp and potentially mould. The limecrete should be allowed to dry for at least 3 months before installing a non-breathable carpet. One other consideration with a carpet, is ensuring the edge insulation does not interfere with the installation of the gripper rails, this may require the use of a conventional screed edge insulation (8mm blue foam).
