Details

The ecoCORK Lime Render/Plaster supplied by Ty-Mawr is a lightweight render, formulated with natural cork aggregates, Natural Hydraulic Lime, plus additions to improve workability and aid spray application.

The inclusion of cork and Natural Hydraulic Lime in the formula, brings a product to market that reaches new heights in sustainable building whilst maintaining high ecological values.  This plaster/render contributes to the improvement of the thermal and acoustic insulation values of the construction elements to which it is applied.

It can be used both Internal and External.

  • The manufacturers buildup should be used for External applications utilising the Consolidation mortar as a scud coat, the EcoCORK Render and the NHL Finishing as final Render Finish

  • For Internal applications the Consolidation Mortar can still be used if required to precoat brick, lintels etc, then the ECOCORK Render and a final finish of Fine Lime Hemp Plaster  (or Fine Finish Plaster)

Application Advice

Recommended in the execution of lightweight renders on walls and ceilings, in interiors and exteriors, where it is intended to increase the thermal and acoustic performance of the substrates. This render is part of an acoustic and thermal double layer solution, which corresponds to the filling layer.

Secil ecoCORK Lime must be applied over a rough cast, similar to Reabilita Cal Consolidação, on ceramic brick, cement block, concrete and stone masonry substrates. However, on some of these substrates, special caution measures on adhesion conditions must be taken into consideration (see Technical Sheet for full details of Application, Characteristics and Restrictions).

Benefits

  excellent environmental credentials.

high durability (outstanding behaviour during freeze/thaw cycles)

high durablilty, with excellent credentials for extreme environments.

formulated exclusively with Natural Hydraulic Lime.

incorporates natural and renewable cork aggregates.

  exceptional permeability to water vapour.

improves thermal performance of a building.

improves the dynamic behaviour of the constructive solutions, with an excellent capacity of energy storage or  thermal delay.

improves acoustic insulation, contributing to reduction of aerial sounds by up to 7db.

it is a light material (a reduction of around 50% in bulk density for every m3, in comparison with other traditional lime mortars)

reduction of CO2 emissions in transport (up to 50% of the emissions in comparison to traditional renders).

reduction of 70% in volume in the consumption of natural but non-renewable aggregates.

absorbs CO2 throughout cabonation, offsetting the carbonfootprint of it's production.

Great product
This was a great product to work with. Lightweight and very workable. We used it on a farm refurbishment and covered around 300m2 with the product on a variety of backgrounds form bare stone to the woodwool fibre boards.

Once it has cured you can shave it and shape it with ease before applying the finish coat

We are now over two years down the line from first application and it is still looking good. Review by Space Crafter / (Posted on 15/09/2016)
