Technical Director at The Watton

Ty Mawr have been closely involved with The Monmouthshire and Brecon Limekiln Trail Project at The Watton, by giving advice, supplying materials and providing training for contractors and volunteers involved with the project.

The project had a focus around the conservation of two Grade II listed limekilns at The Watton and Goytre, and one Grade II* listed at Llangattock. These kilns remain some of the best preserved kilns still largely accessible by the public in the area, each requiring differing degrees of conservation attention. The works were delivered by a combination of specialist contractor and volunteer support with training provided as part of the project package. The project has been made possible through funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Brecon Beacons Trust

Nigel our Technical Director was asked to join for two separate award assessments in Canal & River Trust Waterways Award 2017, in the Restoration and Historic Environment Categories, so that the judges could meet contributors and volunteers who have been involved in the project.

We wish them all the best for both awards.
