Royal Welsh Show 2016

Ty-Mawr Lime Ltd was delighted again co-ordinate the ‘Building Skills’ section in the Countryside Care Area of the 2016 Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, following the success of this area at the 2014 & 2015 shows.

The area has become a ‘one stop shop’ for advice on building conservation and for show casing all that is new in sustainable builds. It brings together experts and craftsmen and women from across Wales and beyond, dealing with everything from building design and product specification to installation/implementation.

Visitors were able to see demonstrations of lime plastering, stone carving, timber framing and decorative plaster work.

The area again received widespread support and participation from organisations such as the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, CADW, the Landmark Trust, the National Library of Wales, Welsh Traditional Building Forum, Adfer Ban a Cwm Building Preservation Trust, Jones & Fraser Traditional Builders, Royston Davies Conservation Builder, Gwent Lime Plastering, and Donald Insall Architects. They were all kept busy providing expert advice and information on the conservation and repair of traditional and historic buildings as well as the construction of new-build.

This year, we were especially pleased to welcome representatives from the British lime manufacturer, Singleton Birch, as well as Ty-Mawr's manufacturers of Welsh wool insulation, Eden Renewables. We also welcomed innovators of sustainable building materials from across Europe, including representatives from Glapor, German manufacturers of 100% recycled foamed glass insulation, and Secil, the Portuguese lime and cork producers/suppliers, and Homatherm, German manufacturers of woodfibre insulation boards.
