Application Advice

Thermafleece CosyWool flexible slabs can be cut using a straight edge and a Stanley knife, or simply torn apart.

For more accurate cutting, tightly compress or clamp the insulation between two pieces of solid 15mm board. Overhang the fleece where you want to cut keeping the two board edges aligned. Saw cut the edge using a sharp, scalloped edged knife and keep the blade firm and square against both board edges throughout. Trim any fine remaining fibres with large scissors or shears.

Thermafleece CosyWool flexible slabs are harmless and can be installed without gloves or protective clothing, although we recommend you wear a dust mask in enclosed spaces such as lofts. Thermafleece CosyWool is not irritating to the skin, eyes or respiratory tract.

To retain the benefits of water vapour, absorption and release, Thermafleece CosyWool flexible slabs may be used in conjunction with a vapour permeable underlay. Protect the insulation from prolonged exposure to sunlight when unpacked and avoid wetting for extended periods, store under cover and clear of the ground.

Plastic is necessary for packing quilted natural insulation. At present there is no alternative material available that provides adequate protection for our products during transit and storage. We are constantly reviewing this position. In our case, not only does plastic packaging protect the product, it also enables our supplier to compress the insulation greatly reducing packaging waste and carbon miles from factory gate to our warehouse, to you the customer. Our Thermafleece suppliers use recycle code 4 LDPE for all of their packaging. Most of the insulation is compress packed in order to minimise packaging. Compress packing also enables them to reduce the thickness of packaging. The packaging weight per sqm of 100mm Thermafleece CosyWool is 22g per sqm their packaging waste is around a quarter of that from alternative brands of natural insulation.
