Click on the product headings below for further information and prices.
Fat Lime Putty - Ty-Mawr
This lime is produced by slaking fresh British Quicklime in an excess of water. It is also known as non-hydraulic lime because it requires exposure to air in order to carbonate and does not set under water. This lime is regarded as the most appropriate lime for old buildings where maximum permeability and flexibility is required.
Hydraulic Lime - British Singleton Birch
We stock the full range of Singleton Birch hydraulic lime products. Their hydraulic lime is a dry powder which is made by slaking quicklime from local silaceous chalks and is normally supplied in 25kg sacks. The range is:
Natural hydraulic lime NHL 1 is a feebly hydraulic lime which is similar in strength and properties to the grey chalk limes, typically used for internal works and external pointing / rendering on very soft masonry. Slow setting
Natural hydraulic lime NHL 2 is typically used for internal works, external repointing / rendering and building on soft masonry in sheltered areas. Conforms to EN459 as an NHL 2 product or feebly hydraulic.
Natural hydraulic lime NHL 3.5 is typically used for most repointing / rendering and building works on most masonry types. Conforms to EN459 as an NHL 3.5 product or moderately hydraulic.
Hydraulic Lime - Castle
This is a dry powder lime produced from limestone containing clay and other impurities which enable it to set without exposure to air; it is therefore used for providing a faster initial set in more extreme conditions including under water.
The Castle Cement product is a white French lime so can be used in situations where a bright white lime mortar is required.
