Casein Powder Paint - is a white paint for internal use only. It is supplied as a powder to which water must be added. It can be used on wallpaper, wood, stone, clay, plasterboard and plaster and can be coloured by adding pigments. It can also be used on furniture with waxes to create decorative effects. It is breathable and can assist in regulating the humidity of the internal environment. It has a soft matt chalky finish. It should not be used in damp situations especially where the walls are likely to remain damp.
Tips - Casein Powder Paint was often used on furniture - it slowly burnishes and polishes over time if left 'unglazed' to give a distressed look or use the beeswax glaze binder to give a more serviceable finish. We like this paint not only from an aesthetic point of view but also from an environmental point of view as it is relatively unprocessed with simple ingredients and is biodegradeable!
