A sucessful lime mortar or plaster requires appropriate sands/aggregates.
A well-washed, well-graded sand will aid workability and minimise shrinkage.
At Ty-Mawr, we have trialed and carefully selected an excellent range of appropriate aggregates in a wide range of colours and textures. This allows us to help yout to produce a mortar close to the original when required as traditionally local sands would have been used given regional variations, variations we feel that are important to respect and maintain.
We also carefully blend together aggregates to produce a perfect combination for lime mortars and plasters. This saves time gauging different sands on-site as well as giving the plaster/mortar the best possible qualities in terms of aesthetics and ease of use.

Important - aggregates do vary over time and some quarries can run out or even close down, so please ensure you purchase sufficient quantities for each job if the colour is critical. We always stive to find a close replacement.
