Limewashed Sandstone Drawing (Herefordshire)

This land drawing was supported by the Arts Council England and was made during H-Art week 2009 over a nine day period. The sandstone was collected from the grounds of Monnow Valley Arts and dipped in limewash (the lime was supplied by Wales-based manufacturer of lime-based products - Ty Mawr Lime Ltd) and then placed by hand.
The final drawing measures 150ft x 110ft and will be displayed until the middle of October. Kate did not work from a plan or a pre-designed drawing, but followed the feel of the land day by day. Once she had established a connection to the land she listened and felt the sense of place, following the pull and energy of this specific location - its trees, hills and mountains.
